In Paris, in the 1930s, a young actress, Madeleine Verdier, is suspected of the murder of a libertine producer. The trial turns to the advantage of the actress bringing her fame. However, the truth is not what we believe and surprising twists and turns await Madeleine and her roommate Pauline, a lawyer.
