Victoire, 17, does not like school. In the stable near her house, she learns to make shoes. She becomes a cobbler. Because she is independent and adventurous, her love life will constantly be tormented. At the twilight of her life, she decides to act responsibly by sharing family secrets with her children.

Based on the story of the founder of the shoemaking empire from Château Dufresne, in Quebec.
